100% Original Aussie Blues
Thanks for stopping by my website...I appreciate the interest
I know I'm supposed to write some waffle here from a 3rd person perspective but I really hate that shit.. hopefully you do to. So I'll just keep it brief...
I love the Blues, I write my own songs and aim to make music that is as authentic as I possibly can.
If I had to have some kind of catch phrase to represent my approach it would be this quote I heard from Blues legend Taj Mahal..
"Would the great musicians that came before you be proud of the Music that you're playing?"
I love a huge range of Music but my main inspiration would be guys like Howling Wolf, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Skip James, R.L.Burnside, Rev Gary Davis, John Lee Hooker, Muddy waters, Albert KIng, BB King , Johnny Winter and many more.. There isn't anything in my playing that I didn't learn from these guys and hopefully some of there influence can be heard in my playing.
The Blues song that started all this foolishness (way back when) was "Goodbye Baby" by Elmore James.. that song blew my mind and started me on a Journey of going backwards through time discovering amazing musicians and a genuine love of Blues music which 30 years later has never left me.
I play a stripped back pretty simple acoustic Blues, no backing tracks or loop pedals or anything like that...just straight ol'skool style. Primarily as an acoustic soloist but quite often accompanied by my friends in various duo and trio options.
No matter which format I am playing in you can expect to hear acoustic Blues music played with an authenticity which comes from a genuine love of the Blues.
In that vein my writing comes directly from my own life...and experiences.
Be great to see you at a gig sometime..
